Grand Prix Information
What is the UKnetrunner Grand Prix Series ?
This is an annual competition open to all club members giving an opportunity for runners of all abilities to compete on a level playing field. The Grand Prix is split into 2 groups - Group 1 for members whe entered at least 4 race results last year and Group 2 for members who entered less than 4 results last year, or who join the Grand Prix this year.

What are the aims of the competition ?
To provide friendly competition amongst club members with an opportunity to be presented with a trophy. - To encourage club members to compete more often over a spread of distances and different disciplines.

How will it work ?
Everyone is graded over a range of distances based on their best time over a qualifying distance in the past 12 months - You score points for your performance in races, in comparison to your grade.

Which races are involved ?
You can score from up to eight races. - There are no mandatory races, however you must include at least one race from 3 of the following categories 1) 5K or 5 Mile 2) 10K or 12k 3) 10 Mile 4) Half Marathon or longer - Race results must be independantly verifiable eg from a race results website or e-mail from the race organiser (note: it WILL be possible to submit improved race results even after results have been submitted at the same distance - providing the criteria for the spread of distances required has been met)

The scoring system:
5 points are awarded for completing a race with a finishing time within your grade. - This decreases by 1 point for every band you finish below your grade. - You gain additional improvement points for every band you finish above your grade.

Bonus Points:
Bonus points (3) are awarded every time you beat your PB at any distance. - First Results at new distances will count as PB times

The Winner:
A trophy will be presented at the A.G.M to the Group 1 member having most points from their eight races. - This will be engraved and held for one year. - A certificate or similar memento will also be given to the winner to keep.

What happens in the future
The Grand Prix will be reviewed at the end of each year and any learning points incorporated into the following years competition. - The prime purpose for this review is to keep the competition fair for all members.

So, what happens next ?
The UKnetrunner Grand Prix year runs from 1st January to 31st December. Any races of qualifying distance can be included (please note the races must be officially timed - races such as Fetcheveryone 5 Mile races which are not officially timed cannot be included). Updates will be carried out on a regular basis which will be shown on the club website. We will publish the finalised performance bands on this site when the Grand Prix Series commences so that competitors can see what they need to achieve to score more points.

What information do we need for you to be involved in the Grand Prix ?
You must be a fully paid member of UKnetrunner - Please submit you previous race results so that your scoring system can be set up. Then all you need to do is get out there and race - making sure that you update the site with your results after each race. Remember you must only use the chip time (where the event is chip-timed) or the gun time. You must not use the time from your own watch.
